Want to experience a tulip festival without crossing an ocean?

Skip the long-haul flight and head to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn, Oregon—just 45 minutes south of Portland. It’s everything you love about spring in bloom… no passport required!
From March 21 to April 27, 2025, this family-owned farm transforms into a rainbow wonderland with over 40 acres of vibrant tulips. Think dreamy photo ops, fresh country air, local food trucks, wine tastings, and even hot air balloon rides (weather permitting!).
Wander through endless rows of color, soak in the charm, and create the kind of memories that feel straight out of a postcard.
Pro tip #1: Bloom times can vary based on weather, so check the official festival site for real-time updates before you go!
Pro Tip #2: Grab Your Tickets Early! 🎟️🚗
This spot is super popular—especially on weekends—so be sure to purchase your tickets in advance. They often sell out, and here’s the kicker: tickets are only available online through their official website.
When booking, you’ll choose a specific entry time, which helps keep things smooth and efficient when you arrive—no long waits or parking chaos! You also have the option to purchase a bouquet of tulips for just over $10 bucks that you pick up when you get there. Worth it!! Mine several days after are still blooming brightly in my kitchen window!
Once you get there, you’ll see a few entry lanes. Just have your ticket ready to be scanned, and one of the many friendly parking attendants will guide you straight to your spot.
Easy, breezy, and on your way to fun in no time!
Now for the Flowers & Festivities! 🌷🎉

Sure, the food trucks and local vendors are fantastic—you’ll definitely want to snack and browse—but let’s be real… the tulips steal the show.
We’re talking row after row of breathtaking blooms in every color imaginable. It’s like stepping into a real-life painting. Honestly, words don’t do it justice—so instead, feast your eyes on some photos below!
While you’re busy swooning over the flowers and taking a million of your own pictures (you will), there’s also a chance to see it all from above... in a tethered hot air balloon! 🎈
Now, if the idea of floating hundreds of feet in the sky in a giant balloon basket gives you heart palpitations (same!), don’t worry—this balloon is safely tethered. You’ll gently rise about 100 feet into the air—just high enough for that dreamy bird’s-eye view of the tulip fields without the full-on flight commitment.
Trust me, it’s the perfect way to top off an already magical experience.
Tulips, Treats & Treasures—A Perfect Day in Bloom 🌷✨
After wandering through the tulip fields (and snapping at least a million photos), don’t forget to treat yourself to some seriously tasty bites. I lucked out with a sunny day and soaked it all in with a fresh-dipped corn dog and a blueberry shimmering lemonade—complete with a candy ring on the straw. Yes, it was as fun (and Instagram-worthy) as it sounds!
Next up: the vendor village. You’ll want time to explore all the handcrafted jewelry, pottery, artwork, clothing, and more. I walked away with a gorgeous pair of earrings and a hand-painted tulip ornament—a sweet little addition to my Christmas tree and a perfect keepsake from the day.
Don’t leave without browsing the rows of tulips for sale—you can grab a potted plant or a fresh-cut bouquet to bring a little of that field magic home with you.
And once you’re home?✨ Mark your calendar for next year’s festival! ✨
(As for me... I’ll be heading to Amsterdam at the end of this month to see how their tulips stack up against our stunning blooms right here in Oregon! Stay tuned…)
